Take Action

The goal of this blog is to engage everyone in taking action to to stop sexist remarks. To that end, below we do the following:

  1. Share ideas about how you can change the way women are talked about in your home and family and how you can work with others to do so in major community institutions, including schools and universities.
  2. Link you to national organizations that are taking action to address the sexist commentary that remains a part of the culture.

You might begin with your own family—learning to speak up effectively when negative or limiting comments are made about women. Then consider in which other environments you feel comfortable helping to create a culture that promotes equality.

The best approach to facilitating change in most environments generally is to band with others. Doing so provides you with a range of perspectives, skills, and points of leverage. Change can be hard, so building a team can ensure that you have support when you encounter resistance.

Check out the ideas below, and start taking action today.

Or let us know if your organization has an effort underway to stop sexist remarks about women.
